Silversmith is a result of my long time love-affair with these small white dogs.  Growing up with terriers, the first thing I did when I left home was aquire my own.  A little tan and white puddin named Dill, who entertained every person that crossed his path.  But what I didnt know, was that along with the charming little imp came a very strong prey drive that I could not seem to contain.  Dill was a hunter at heart. He chased, hunted down and killed anything that he could catch.  Dill lost his life to a large rattlesnake in 1994.  It broke my heart.  But I swore I would never be without a Russell.   The rest is history...

You won't see many litters come from Silversmith.  We believe that a terrier must do a number of things before ever being bred.  Prove themselves in the ring; holding their own against competitors, in the field; showing strong working drive, being willing and able to do the job in which they were bred to do...and in the home as a family companion.   Breeding should only be done in an effort to improve the breed.  To do that you must only breed the terriers who excel.

We do not have a kennel.  Our dogs live in our home, sleep in our beds, and are valued members our family.  All of our terriers are BAER (hearing) and CERF (eye) tested. Puppies are raised in the kitchen underfoot and adored every day by our two sons.  We do our very best to prepare them for the world.  We believe that a pup allowed to stay with his mother until 12 weeks makes a much more confident well behaved adult.

We have been involved in rescue for 9 years, having rescued, fostered and placed well over 120 terriers. Doing that has allowed us to see first hand what can happen when a terrier is placed in the wrong home.  So you can see why we are very selective when allowing our terriers to leave us.

We promise to stand behind each and every Jack Russell bred by us, as long as that terrier lives.
